Lifelong Winnipegger. Interested in civic issues, politics, and the environment. Self-proclaimed urbanist and environmentalist. Nature lover. Activist. Musician. Writer.
This project started as boredom crept into my second year of post-secondary at the University of Manitoba in 2006. The original focus was Winnipeg's lack of vision for environmentally-related topics. As I continued writing that focus shifted. Over the years of consuming news, official reports and documents on policy, I became more interested in Winnipeg's urban areas, buildings, and the benefits of a dense core in a completely suburban city.
Other interests include foreign policy, the Middle East, and human rights. I believe in the core values of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Law and the body of the United Nations, as well as the freedoms of speech, expression, and information. I take heavy interest in stories that include abuses and violation of these freedoms.
I am frequently spotted standing in empty parking lots screaming “there’s noooooo parking!” at heritage buildings slated for demolition. This website is a venting outlet for the many wonderful policies and civic decisions that have helped shape Winnipeg into the tasteless donut it is today.
Thank you for spending your time in Progressive Winnipeg.
