NHL on NBC blows

** Update **

When they zoom in on Pierre McGuire, it's "Blackberry presents NBC Inside The Glass." Way to go Balsillie.

** End Update **

I don't understand this.

First of all, in this game today, two original six teams are playing. They give it the afternoon time slot on a Sunday, presumably to draw more viewers.

Then, for some reason, TSN sucks the feed off of NBC. All that's missing is a glowing puck. These commentators are complete dumbasses. It's as if they don't even understand the game themselves. They're asking eachother questions about the game, for what? To educate a potential American market that ISN'T EVEN WATCHING THIS?!

Anybody who is watching this game is either Canadian, or from Detroit or Chicago. They know what's going on.

So, NHL, stop fooling yourselves here. If you want to keep doing this on NBC, then the least you can do is let TSN or the CBC go down to Detroit and have Cuthbert or Hughson call the game for the Canadians. Because honsetly, I don't care how long Toews' shift has been, and I don't give a flying fuck that I can watch Patrick Kane sit on the bench when he's not on the ice on nbc.com.

I'm watching this on mute.

"NBC’s coverage of Game 1 of the Detroit/Chicago series drew a 2.0/5 on Sunday. That rating marks the best ever rating for an NHL On NBC broadcast, excluding obviously the Stanley Cup Finals and Winter Classic."

Best ever rating eh.

That might have more to do with the fact that it was two original 6 teams in a conference final than hockey getting more popular in the states.

Just proves that the people know what they want and that hockey is alive and well in the right places down there
