I'm a big, big Joel fan. He played nearly 30 acoustic songs over two sets, backed by Ana Egge, Rose Cousins and his very own father, Bill.

I often wonder if my generation or generations to come will ever have a musician who can stand up on stage with nothing but himself and his guitar, in this age of punk rock and other forms of "rock" otherwise known as "noise". It seems like "kids" these days don't have the patience or interest of a new Gordon Lightfoot or Bob Dylan, someone who can take a crowd of people by themselves. Is music with folk roots making a graceful exit from the mainstream? And then a guy named Joel Plaskett comes along. Captivating the audience with his own personal aura, entertaining improv and personality.
You can tell Joel loves it on stage, as if there is nowhere he would rather be than right there, on the stage, playing his tunes for you. It rubs off on the audience. A real connection between audience member and performer.

Awesome, awesome concert. If you ever get a chance to see Joel, GO! Even if you've never heard his music, his beaming persona while performing will captivate you.
If anyone was there, I think I might have messed up the last couple songs of the second set. Corrections/help would be appreciated!
